Winter Blues

Hey wonderfuls!

I haven't posted in forever due to working some extra hours at work and then being super tired afterwards. I will have to do a double post on Friday to make up for this past one.

I went out last night to a housewarming party, and this is what I wore.

I got the idea of layering a dress with a sweater from a few other fashion bloggers, and I must say I love it! Keeping warm while wearing a super cute summer dress is great! Plus I absolutely LOVE teal and brown together!

I really gotta work on my poses. I feel and look like a dork. :P

Saturday Steals

Well today I was hoping to find some good deals with all of the sales going on, but I didn't. I did find a great pair of boots from Spring and a pair of belts.

The boots are so comfy I feel like I'm wearing a pair of sneakers. And I can actually walk with these heels! (I'm a major klutz so don't expect to see any high heels on me).

My Aunt however, managed to score 4 deals today. She walked away with 4 pairs of shoes! First store she got one pair for 10 bucks. Second pair was $19, third was another $20 and the fourth pair she got for $30. And all of these shoes were regular 60$ and up! I couldn't believe her. I'll have to go shopping with her more often. :)

Oh I guess I do have a steal for the day, but I didn't buy it yet. I put it on hold until my bills are paid off. I found a super cute velvet coat at Plan B for $15 from Fancy Lucky. So I'll be posting pictures of that when I actually own it. The color of it is sooo pretty, it's like a dark teal. Really pretty, plus it's vintage!

And a shot of what I wore out this evening!

Friday Fashion Spotlight

Today I am featuring another local fashionista. I recently started following her blog, and she is the cutest. Not to mention very, very talented!

I'm talking about Curvy Geekery.

Ugly Sweater outfit

She makes everything look good! Takes this ugly sweater post for instance. Bold color and a bold print is hard to work with. And she made it look so chic! Jealous! I wish I could do that.

Plus she has a clutch line that you can buy online! Visit clutchculture.com to see her shop and all of the wonderful clutches she has made. Or you can go to the local shop on Spring Garden road, Pink Mascara Accessories to see them! They're really affordable! I'm saving up so I can purchase one. :)

So check her blog out and her online store. Just reading her posts will put a smile on your face.

Hump Day

Due to being busy over the weekend and then sick on top of that, I haven't been able to post anything new.

So today I am going to try to write a new post of all of the things I have acquired from the past week. Everything I have bought was on sale. :)

New kicks: Adidas $30. (half off)

 Women's Honey Low

New ring and skirt from Modcloth:
Dash of Sparkle Ring

Craving Curry Skirt

I got the ring for $8 (30% off) (now it's $4! :< ) and the skirt for $10 (70% off)!

Next up, I went to Sears over the weekend and bought this long sleeved dress for $6 (40% off)! And this gorgeous ring for $8 (30% off)!

 Attitude

Jessica ring

Not a bad haul, eh? In total I spent about $70 (with taxes and shipping). The sneakers alone would have cost me that much if they weren't on sale.

Annnd.. I forgot to take pictures of what I wore from the past few days... :< I really have to stop forgetting to do that!

Friday Fashion Spotlight

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm going to try to have weekly themed posts, and I thought why not do a spotlight of local and away clothing businesses, fashion bloggers, and everything in between that has to deal with fashion.

So first up is a good friend of mine clothing store called Toxic Blossom.

Stacy and Caily run the show of this local shop. Their work is inspired from the streets of Japan and alternative fashion. Very different and some of it (well most of it), very cute!

A little snapshot of their store!

They make all kinds of wonderful things. Skirts, dresses, shirt, fuzzy earmuffs and more! They do all of their work by hand and lots of love! And a lot of their stuff is fit for bigger gals like me. Plus sized cute skirts!? I'm in!

I mean, look at how cute this skirt is! Super awesome for the summer time.

So if you're in the Halifax area, go down to Gottigen Street to Plan B, and once you get in, swing a left to the pinkest corner of the store! That's where you'll find them and their funky clothing and accessories.

Stripes

Yesterday I tried something a little different. I paired my long striped cardigan with a colorful shirt. I also wore my purple scarf with it. I had mixed feelings about it. I liked it when I looked in the mirror, but a picture of it, made me not like it so much. Ah well! All part of the learning experience. I did however, liked my makeup and my hair.

Cardigan and shirt - Fairweathers
Scarf - panhandler
Jean - Retimans

No shoes, because I was going to wear my winter boots, and they're pretty ugly. Next pay, I'll be investing in a nice pair of winter boots that I can out and about when it's not storming out.

Saturday Steals

I got around to do a little bit of shopping today. I went to the local co-op merchant shop, Plan B this afternoon to put up a few new things of mine to sell, only to come out with an awesome zip-up sweater. Purchased from Fancy Lucky Vintage, it was on hold for someone else like a month ago, so they were going to put it back up on the rack, but I grabbed it, tried it on, and fell in love. It's made by a company called Last Kiss. It's knitted and has rabbit fur on front. Normally I would never buy anything with real fur, but it's really nice, and it's second hand, so I don't feel as bad, I guess? And the buckles have rhinestone details on them. I love it. Sorry bunnies. It cost me a whopping $20.

Next I headed to Value Village and was there for like ever, but I found a few nice pieces.

One is this super cute pink velvet coat with cute gold buttons on it.Coat is from Old Navy! Got it for $6.99!!

I also got a metallic blouse made by Harve Benard. It cost me $12.99 and it's new! Still had the factory tags on it. I love the ruffly neckline.

Last but not least, this cute black/brown plaid button-down blouse. It has like a zillion buttons. It's made by Dalia. Also love it's ruffly neckline too. Cost was $8.99.

And that's it! I think the best steal of the day is the pink coat! Who can beat a super cute velvet coat for 7 bucks!?

I'm going to try to do a "Saturday Steals" blog post every other Saturday. So keep an eye out! :)

Big Buttons

Last night the bf and I went out for a dinner and a movie. I wanted to dress night, but casual, considering we were only going to Boston Pizza and the movies. I settled on my knitted 3/4 sleeve shirt with 3 buttons running down the front of it. Nice and causal, and it kept me warm in the theater.

Knitted shirt - Smart Set
Dark wash jeans - Reitmans
Flats - Payless
Belt - Fairweather

Detail shot of the buttons. :)
Also a shot of what I'm wearing today. Only wearing shoes in pic, because bare feet look weird.

3 Strand faux pearls - Thrifted (they were my Mom's from the 80's!)
Sweater & Belt - fairweather
Dark wash jean - Reitmans
Flats - Payless

2012

Hello 2012!

I decided that I want to create a blog to post my outfits. I want to look nice every day of the week, but that's hard when I work at a place that provides its own work outfits. So when I go out or even chill out at home, I tend to dress up. It makes me feel good and I feel that I always accomplish more throughout the day when I look good. Probably because I feel good!

So first post means first outfit! This is what I wore last night out to ring in the New Year!

Feather head band - Panhandler
Teal arm shrug - Fairweathers
Hot pink sparkly shirt and lace skirt - Reitmans
Tights - Sears
Nude shoes - Spring
Bow Purse - Bentley

I also tried to do something fun to my nails.Painted my nails pink and then added clear gloss to tips, and sprinkled blue glitter on them. After it was all dry, added clear top coating.

Nail polish - Revlon: 285 Oh My Magenta
Blue glitter from the dollar store.

For shaky hands and the first time doing something like this, I think they turned out nice.
